About Tom

Thomas Pyle is a specialist in the development and execution of long-term legislative, regulatory and political strategies for clients in both the private and non-profit sectors. After nearly a decade of service in Congress, including serving as a senior advisor in the House Republican Leadership, Tom brings to the table extensive knowledge of the legislative process, a wealth of policy and political experience and numerous relationships both on and off the Hill. He was recently highlighted by his peers as being “one of the best in the business” in a profile in the Hill, a prominent weekly newspaper covering Congress.

Following his service on Capitol Hill, Tom served five years as Director of Federal Affairs for Koch Industries, the largest privately held corporation in the U.S. Koch has a broad array of interests including: energy; oil and gas; specialty chemicals; fibers; fertilizer; paper products; finance; agriculture and trade services.

Tom’s experience on Capitol Hill included the position of Policy Analyst in the Office of the House Majority Whip, who is the chief vote counter in the House leadership structure. Tom has held several other senior level posts, including Staff Director of the House Western Caucus, where he focused on advancing issues of importance to members from Western states and other rural regions of the country. He also served as a Legislative Director to California Representative George Radanovich and began his service in Congress as a legislative aide and committee liaison to Congressman Richard Pombo, past Chairman of the House Resources Committee.

In these capacities, Mr. Pyle has gained considerable policy expertise in the energy, environment, natural resource, agriculture and transportation sectors. Both on and off the Hill, Tom has advanced numerous federal initiatives including: national energy policy; climate change policy; the Clean Air Act; the Endangered Species Act; the Clean Water Act; the Historic Preservation Act; the Farm Bill; and the Highway bill. He has also focused on federal water policy and is considered an expert in alternative fuels issues. Tom also advises clients on tax and trade matters.

Mr. Pyle is a graduate of the University of Southern California, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Law and Society. Tom is a veteran of many local, state and federal political campaigns and has experience in crafting polling and focus group materials. He and his wife, Bijal Parikh, a social worker, reside in Maryland. They have one daughter, Atia.
